New Equations began in 1994 with the groundbreaking discoveries made by Siska Tovey and Alan Sheets. They identified the Nine Soultypes, Soultyping, and the Postures of Strength. Over time, more discoveries followed, including the Facial Expressions of Strength, the Movement Centers, and the New Equations Frequencies. The soul is the eternal essence of who you are. Your soul is you. It is the ineffable quality that brings the spark of life to all that we are.

We use the word soul because, through our research, it has become undeniable that the energy that we connect with through the Soultypes goes far beyond personality or mental constructs. It is the most accurate term that we have found to convey the profound impact the Soultypes have on the world.

Our use of the word soul is not intended to carry any religious connotations. New Equations is not, and never has been, affiliated with any belief system or religion, and our community comes from a variety of faiths and ideologies.

New Equations is not a religion, nor is it founded in or associated with any religion.

Each Soultype has a Posture of Strength. You are naturally born to be physically and spiritually strong in one and only one of these postures. Learn more on our Postures of Strength page.

Your are born as one of the nine Soultypes and the physical expressions of your soul can be seen from birth and throughout your life.

No. Your Soultype will never change to another Soultype. With New Equations training, you can develop the strength and wisdom of the other Soultypes, but you will always be the Soultype you were born with.

No. Your Soultype and your personality are not the same. Your Soultype is not determined by your environment, race, religion, personality, thoughts, beliefs, or any kind of training that you may have had. This is what sets New Equations apart from other typing systems. It is based purely on physicality which allows it to be free from personal or cultural bias.

Yes. After working with thousands of people around the world, our experience is that there is an equal distribution of each of the nine Soultypes.

Yes, but it requires intensive training and dedication. You will need to develop the strength of all nine Soultypes in order to be able to see another person’s Soultype. If you are interested in learning to Soultype, check out our advanced training program page.

Through years of research, New Equations correlated nine frequencies with the nine Soultypes. These specific New Equations Frequencies™ are always used when New Equations Music is composed. Unlike the A440 standard used for most recorded music, these frequencies are tuned to specific hertz that create vibrations in the music that help bring one’s spirituality and physicality into closer alignment. Pythagorean tuning is used in New Equations Music because the human body can resonate with it in a natural way. This is because the harmonic ratios of the overtones are the same as those that occur in nature. Learn more on our Frequencies and Tuning page.

Yes. New Equations Music is a great way to connect with and comfort your pets. Because of the frequencies and tuning used in our music, the sounds resonate with everything in a spiritual way that other music cannot.

There are seven chakras and nine Soultypes. The location of seven of the Soultypes is in the area of seven of the chakras, but the Soultypes each have a precise location on the body. These nine locations also function as Movement Centers, and they all are equally important.

We know that there are many systems in the world that people use to understand human behavior, but what makes New Equations unique is that it is entirely rooted in the body and is not connected to theories, psychology, or ideologies. Finding out your Soultype is a physical experience that cannot be faked or altered. Once you know your Soultype, you can develop your spirituality completely independent from thoughts and beliefs.

New Equations is not a psychological model. The Soultypes are not based off of personality traits and are not an indicator of mental health. Psychological problems reside in the realm of the mental process – not the soul.

Discovering your Soultype is a body-based experience, but at the moment, our teachers speak only English and Norwegian. However, we’re happy to work with participants who have limited proficiency in either language.

New Equations is a global organization that is always developing new programs for people to attend. Some programs will require travel, depending on your location. However, you can contact New Equations to explore bringing a seminar or workshop to you, almost anywhere in the world.
