Alone, we are blind. Trapped in the captivity of our own minds—unable to see ourselves or our reality for the complex wonder that it holds.

Human beings need each other in order to move through life. We need people to nurture and invest in us in order to grow. We need people to reflect humanity back to us as a reminder of how precious and unique life is. We need people to challenge us when we are wrong—because we will be wrong. And we need people to see us in a way that leads us to what we need.

It is necessary to move through life together, and we need people to be our compasses as we go.

Leadership is the selfless arc of both stepping up and stepping aside when needed.
